Can my dog eat carrots? Why your dog certainly can eat carrots, in fact, it’s great for them. It’s perfectly safe and nutritious, and very healthy.

Here are some of the benefits of feeding your dog Carrots:

  • Nature’s Toothbrush - when fed frozen, it has the ability to help with plaque build up by scraping the teeth and  gently massaging the gums.

  • Low Calorie Diet - it is a low calorie food, which is suitable for diabetics or those that aspire for a svelte waist.

  • Beta-Carotene - Beta-Carotene is a carotenoid that is an antioxidant and a precursor to Vitamin A. Carrots have a wall of cellulose that isn’t digestible by dogs, it’s best to cook the carrots to reap the full nutritional benefits for your dog.

  • Vitamin A - Carrots are rich in Vitamin A, which is essential for bone growth, reproduction, cellular differentiation and a good immune response.

  • Other Essential Vitamins and Minerals - potassium, niacin, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and vitamins B, C, D, E and K.

  • Supports Eye Health - Carrots are loaded with lycopene and lutein which are essential phytonutrients that may help protect eyes from free-radical damage and UVB radiation.

  • Aids Digestion - If your dog has loose stools, by adding carrots to his diet, the added fiber may help to add some bulk to your dog’s stools.

As always, with any new food, it’s always best to feed your dog only a little at first. Wait to see of there is any adverse reaction like diarrhoea, itching and/or vomitting, if any, before you let your dog eat more. When in doubt, please consult your veterinarian. Carrots may cause some gas and intestinal upset if your dog is not used to the additional fiber. Always provide plenty of fresh drinking water to assist the fiber through the digestive system comfortably, and to prevent blockages.

Carrots are added to our festive “Fortune Pineapple Tarts” Taruto by Kuro Snacks for a bit of that boost.
