What’s In A Name?

黒豚と呼んでいい。

So Kuro is actually named Kurobuta (黒豚 for Black Pork) but we cut it short to just Kuro. We have a thing about naming our pets after food. Like Capsicum (our female long-tailed parakeet), Farfalle (our male Cockatiel) and Sesame (our female Cockatiel). For obvious reasons, because Kuro is a Shiba Inu (柴犬), we used the Japanese name instead. It was inspired by her color and we were hoping she would be a nice chonky girl but as it turns out, she is less thicc like a pig and rather skinny, so Kuro, which is just black is quite fitting. What's your inspiration for your dog's name?

We'd like to provide some suggestions for Japanese Names for Dogs. Here are some of our favorites to help you along in naming your new baby. After which you can then teach your dog Japanese Dog Commands, if you're like us and a bit of a Japanophile.

These are just some basic Japanese words. There are more of course, after popular anime or manga characters, Japanese adjectives, and even Pokemon Game Characters. Speaking of Japanophile, check out these products inspired by Japanese Toys.
